Retro Horror Games: PS1 and VHS Era, 2026

These six are built to look like PS1-era or VHS-era output, so what is being copied is a format, not any particular game. On the PS1 side that means warping textures and jittering vertices rather than soft blur. On the tape side it means tracking noise and chroma bleed. The crude rendering does work modern fidelity cannot, which is the point of the constraint, not a side effect.

Christmas Massacre, Lost in Vivo, Murder House, No One Lives Under the Lighthouse, Squirrel Stapler and Stay Out of the House are here. The section groups them by how they are built to look, not by how they play, so read the entries. Each shows the sources we fetched, in their own units, and a title with one source keeps that source whole rather than averaged into a composite. Signalis and Crow Country sit adjacent to this scene and are catalogued elsewhere on the site.

Ordered by Steam score, ties broken by the number of reviews behind it. Sources measure different things and are never blended.
