The 22-point gap between Steam's 86% positive rating and Metacritic's 64/100 tells the whole story: franchise devotees will forgive a lot, but this game shipped in a genuinely troubled state and requires real tolerance, or active modding, to be enjoyable. Bugs and glitches are the single most-cited complaint by a wide margin, and a poor save system means those bugs force players back through core gameplay that multiple reviewers independently called a walking simulator: fetch-quest padding dressed up as exploration. The atmosphere, character design, and visuals are legitimately strong, but the horror elements are undercooked, the game looks and sounds great without reliably threatening or scaring you, and enemies that teleport instead of patrol make the gap between ambiance and actual dread hard to ignore.
FNAF franchise devotees who prioritize atmosphere and character design over tight mechanics, are comfortable modding to restore cut content, and won't be demoralized by replaying tedious sections after bug-induced progress loss.
The save system is bad enough that the frequent bugs can wipe a session's progress and send you back through slow, fetch-quest-heavy gameplay, expect to repeat boring stretches through no fault of your own, and go in knowing this is closer to a mood piece than a horror game.
