Is Read.ai worth it in 2026?
Read.ai's mobile app earns its 4.9/5 from 827 iTunes ratings primarily on the strength of one genuinely useful feature: recording in-person, ad hoc meetings on your phone and receiving automatic transcripts and summaries, something the desktop product couldn't do. If you're already a Read.ai subscriber who holds spontaneous or face-to-face meetings, that addition is meaningful. But the app has showstopper problems, not polish problems: sign-in and authentication failures are the single most common complaint, meaning a significant share of users can't reliably get into the app at all, which makes every other feature moot. When you do get in, the backend can take up to 4 hours to process reports, at least one user lost a recording entirely during upload, and the app crashes to blank screens with enough frequency to undermine trust in a tool whose entire job is capturing meetings you can't repeat.
Existing Read.ai subscribers who regularly hold in-person or on-the-go meetings, can tolerate early-stage mobile software, and already have a working authentication setup, not new users or anyone relying on Gmail SSO on iOS.
Authentication failures can lock you out entirely, and recording loss during upload is a documented failure mode, do not rely on this app as your sole capture method for any meeting that actually matters.
