Until Dawn earns its 83% positive rating as a genuinely gripping playable slasher film, the story pulls you forward, the jump scares land repeatedly, and the cinematic presentation is polished enough that a single blind playthrough is hard to put down. The 'your choices matter' premise, however, is largely an illusion: only character survival actually changes, the ending is the same on every run, and characters carry plot armor through key sections, so anyone expecting Telltale-style branching will feel misled rather than surprised. The PC port compounds this with documented performance problems including lag in specific areas, relentless bugs, and crashes serious enough that at least one reviewer called it arguably the worst PC port ever done, on PC, unplayability is a real risk, not a footnote.
