Is V/H/S worth it in 2026?

V/H/S earns its 6.1/10 on TMDB honestly, it's a found-footage horror anthology that delivers genuine invention and real scares across its multiple director segments, but it's structurally hobbled by the same flaws that sink most anthologies: a weak wraparound story and wildly inconsistent segment quality. The multi-director format is both the film's greatest asset and its biggest liability, since the variety of creative visions produces some genuinely disturbing highs but also stretches of dead weight that will have you checking the time. The deliberately degraded video aesthetic compounds the problem: if handheld shakycam and intentionally poor image quality actively grate on you, V/H/S stacks that irritant across its entire runtime, and no amount of inventive segments fully compensates.

Best for

Horror fans who actively enjoy found-footage filmmaking and want to see what multiple directors do with the format in short, gory bursts, the creative variety is real, and the best segments deliver genuine scares.

Watch out

The wraparound story is a consistent weak point, segment quality is genuinely uneven rather than mildly so, and if the found-footage format already tests your patience, running it through an anthology structure means you may sit through significant dead weight before the next strong segment arrives.
